Job Title: Admissions Director and Associate Professor
Compensation: $12,000 per year
Hours: 8-10 hours per week (may be more when teaching
Location: Can work remotely from anywhere in the US, though administrative office is in Deerfield, IL (Chicago north suburbs)
The Admissions Director and Associate Professor of the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism (IISHJ) will work with the IISHJ Dean for North America on admissions, student program progress supervision, teaching seminars, and public programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Admissions
- Conduct pre-application interviews with prospective students in Rabbinic, Leadership, and Officiant professional programs
- Review submitted applications
- Participate in Admissions Committee meetings
Professional Programs
- Supervise Rabbinic, Leadership, Officiant program completion, including seminars taken and assignments submitted. This also includes Rabbinic program fieldwork completion and evaluation, though not Leadership or Officiant program fieldwork.
- Assist IISHJ Dean for North America in teaching, co-teaching, and hiring professors for IISHJ Rabbinic seminars (subjects TBD based on candidate academic/teaching background and experience). Expectation is to at least co-teach one course per year
Content Creation
- Record quarterly video program for IISHJ YouTube channel (interviews, book reviews)
- Review past student papers for once/month publication on future IISHJ blog/journal
- Help create quarterly e-blast communications to IISHJ Contact List
Qualifications
- PhD in Judaic Studies or field related to the work of the IISHJ.
- At least 4 years of experience in the movement of Secular Humanistic Judaism, including community development and officiating lifecycle celebrations.
- Prior experience teaching Rabbinic students.
- Prior experience with graduate-level admissions/administration.
